An International Prize For Epique Island!
With its “Barefoot Luxury” lifestyle scheduled to be brought to life in Bodrum’s Tilkicik Bay in the summer of 2017, Epique Island has been awarded the Silver Elephant Award in the “Opening/Celebration/Festivity Event Category” of the European Best Event Awards (EuBea), one of the most respected awards in the field of events and organisation.
The creation of Aksoy Holding in partnership with the world-renowned South African architectural company, SAOTA, Epique Island has already begun to prove its success in the international arena. Its launch in Bodrum in August 2015, held in partnership with the dDf design company, was deemed worthy of the second prize in the “Opening/Celebration/Festivity Category” at EuBea, which is recognised as the ‘Oscars’ for the event and communications sector. It carried the added prestige of being the first among all the Turkish projects which have been nominated in the eleven years the awards have been held to return with a prize.
Held this year between 13th and 15th October in St. Petersburg, taking part in the EuBea were 276 projects belonging to 112 different agencies in 22 countries. All of Europe’s most significant event communications agencies and important company representatives attended the gala ceremony on the main stage of the famous Leningrad Centre.
The Epique Island launch was held on 22nd August 2015 with a splendid party organised in Bodrum’s Yalıkavak. For this international award-winning launch, a 1,200m2 barge was brought from the Istanbul Tuzla shipyard to Tilkicik Bay. The guests were taken from the land by boat and brought to this floating island on the sea. The beach, which had been designated as the departure point for the boats, was completely transformed especially for the party and two piers leading to the coast were set up. The master of ceremonies for the night was Oylum Talu and the opening speeches were made by Erdal Aksoy, Chairman of the Aksoy Holding Executive Board, Batu Aksoy, the CEO of Aksoy Holding, and Philip Olmesdahl, one of the partners in the South African architectural company SAOTA. The stage on the floating island, which had been designed with references to the details of the project’s villas and decorated with plants used in the original landscape, was designed to resemble the façade of one of the Courtyard Villas on Epique Island, and a mapping display representing life on the island was also created. The famous American music group, Pink Martini, gave a concert and Burhan Öcal and DJ Doğuş Çabakçor brought a special composition they had created for the project to the stage, while a light show was put on over the whole island. Special personalised gifts were also presented to the guests. The launch was attended by almost 700 people from the world of business, the artistic community, and high society.
Planned to begin life in the summer of 2017, Epique Island has already begun to receive guests at its model villa which is open to visitors to Yalıkavak’s Tilkicik Bay.
