Erdal Aksoy Industrial Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Launched at ITU
The Erdal Aksoy Industrial Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, established through the shared vision of Aksoy Holding and Istanbul Technical University, was inaugurated on 17 June with a ceremony held at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering on ITU’s Ayazağa Campus. The ceremony was attended by our Founding Chairperson Erdal Aksoy, our CEO and Vice Chairperson Batu Aksoy, our Vice Chairperson Banu Aksoy, members of our executive team, Istanbul Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Dean of the ITU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Prof. Dr. İlhan Kocaarslan, academics and representatives from the business community.
Bringing humanoid robots, industrial robots and artificial intelligence systems together within a single research infrastructure, the laboratory is the first of its kind in Türkiye. Equipped with advanced technologies from OMRON and Unitree, the centre will host research in robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and autonomous systems.
Designed to accommodate up to 15 researchers at a time, the laboratory will offer master’s and doctoral students’ opportunities to conduct applied research, develop prototypes and work on real-world production scenarios. Named after our Founding Chairman Erdal Aksoy, a 1966 graduate of ITU’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the laboratory aims to support the transfer of academic knowledge to industry and contribute to the development of Türkiye’s artificial intelligence and robotics ecosystem.
